Nikki Klug

Owner and head trainer

Growing up in a competitive AKC obedience and conformation home introduced me to the world of  dog training at a very young age. At 10 years old, I started obedience training not only my own dogs but also stray dogs that my mom (also a professional dog trainer) would take in and then adopt out. As I grew up, I began volunteering at a county run shelter in Colorado where I started as a dog walker, not long after, I started working with the dogs on basic obedience skills and manners. That soon turned into something much more. I partnered with the shelter and began my own program of Pit Bull rescue to assist their chances at a successful, lifelong adoption. I've worked as a veterinary technician  and as a groomer for large breeds as well.

I was first introduced to competitive bite sports in my early twenties and was hooked. Timing wasn't right at the time but I kept a tight hold on that dream and happily that dream came true with a bundle of teeth disguised as a German Shepherd. After a lot of foundation and problem solving work, we received our IPO I title. I now have my 2nd competition dog, a Belgian Malinois named Nyla. I am well experienced in both companion dog work and sport dog work - particularly in helping these two skills meet. I have worked with several different breed specific rescues including Woof Project Malinois Rescue, Northwest Boxer Rescue and Wigglin Home Boxer Rescue, regularly taking on their most difficult cases for training and evals.

Since 2017 I have titled my German Shepherd (who has since passed) and Belgian Malinois in IPO/IGP (bite sport), Barn Hunt and dock diving, AKC Advanced Trick Dog title and CGC.

I'm determined, motivated and a bit stubborn, all of which I believe are good traits to have as a dog trainer. I don't give up easily and I don't shy away from a challenge.

My favorite part of helping dog owners and handlers is getting to see all the pieces of the puzzle come together to create that beautiful picture we all strive for.

Josh Klug

Trainer.

Josh and I have been married for 21 years and he has been my number 1 fan and supporter throughout this journey. Over the years, he has become a very skilled trainer, helping with all of the services we offer as well as handling and training some incredibly difficult dogs we’ve had over the years. He didn't grow up around dogs and training like I did, I threw him into the deep end of this world head first. We brought home his first sport dog, a Belgian Malinois named Hemi, about 6 years ago and they are show stoppers today. The two of them leave very experienced trainers in awe of the relationship they have, the ridiculously cool tricks he's taught her and their picture on the IGP field. Josh and Hemi have earned their first title in Barn Hunt, their BH and APR I in IPO.

Even though he works a full time job as a Power Plant Operator, Josh is also a vital part of Klug K9 Training, he's especially good at problem solving and thinking outside the box to achieve our goals.
